About this Speaker

Born and raised in Detroit, MI the producer/singer/songwriter inspiration comes from the desire to uplift through frequencies of sound. Sophiyah's love affair with piano and technology explores house, electronic, jazz and more! With pure vocals and dreamy soundscapes she conveys an earthy warmth. Fall of 2017 she began an on going multi-media social awareness exhibition highlighting artist and the black culture. This birthed her first musical production series “Alignment”, an introspective narrative comprised of interviews and musical arrangements. Her journey continues as she shares her gift of music amongst diverse spaces like Detroit’s Music Hall Jazz Café, Cultivate Coffee and Tap House and even joining friends at SXSW music festival. Sophiyah’s appreciation and respect for the spirit keeps her deeply rooted in her community as well as traveling to encourage individuality, truth and peace. The healing power of art is a motivating force. Sophiyah E. is founder of Afro Moone, a Detroit-based resource furnishing event production services, content strategy, and accessible aids for healthy living. It’s most popular debut, Moone Shots of Afro Moone Wellness+ , are fresh pressed ginger based elixirs! Each elixir is crafted with unprocessed and locally-grown produce designed to equip your body with natural defenses to maintain healthy systems. In February of 2020, Afro Moone introduced “INDIGO” a sonic exploration into spiritual and indigenous works, bringing focus to acknowledging the oneness within spirit community and artistry. In honor of the natural cycles of life, this production is set to emerge quarterly. Sophiyah also serves as Director of Artist Relations of DCIPHER- a Detroit based organization dedicated to advancing the community and music economy. Our nation is experiencing a necessary revolution in response to racial, social and economic injustices. Recently established, S.O.W. (solidarity, ownership, wealth) is the coming together of fellow musicians and local organizations/businesses raising awareness in the fight against racial injustices, and providing healthy living alternatives to remain protected against COVID.
